I agree with everything you just said. One way I have used my phone to write emails, is by dictating the email to my phone. I've actually written whole books that way before from my car, with little more than a few index cards and bullet points. I'll dictate the chapters in an email to myself, then I'll edit from computer later on.
That's actually a pretty good way to get over "writer's block" when I'm just tired of looking at my computer screen. Go for a drive. Stop at a park or a Wal-Mart or something, and just dictate whatever I want to write. Then mail it to myself for editing.
